How do you compare?
Once you have calculated your carbon emissions using the Future Carbon calculator, you might be interested to know the following:
- Carbon Neutral says that for the year to June 2012, our national inventory emissions were 24.4 tonnes CO₂ per person
- According to the ABC, households emit an average of 14 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year
So what can I do?
The first step is to look at ways to reduce your carbon emissions – at home, out and about, and at work. Take a look at our reduction tips, and don’t forget to share these ideas with other people!
Large-scale landscape restoration
We know the benefits of planting native vegetation at scale and restoring biodiversity. Greening Australia has over 30 years of experience and knowledge to apply to addressing the threats facing our unique landscapes – and in doing so, we are also combatting climate change.
What else can I do?
Greening Australia relies on voluntary donations to continue planting at the scale necessary to meet these challenges.
No matter how small or large your donation to Greening Australia might be, you will be contributing to the vital restoration of large areas of native vegetation across multiple properties, as well as their on-going management and monitoring.
Donors are contributing not only to large-scale projects that produce environmental and social improvements, but to the establishment of forests that capture carbon (known as carbon forest sinks).
